When was asiong salonga born

Nicasio "Asiong" Rodriguez Salonga [1] October 11, — October 7, , nicknamed the " Hitler " or "Hito" of Tondo, [2] was an infamous Filipino gangster whose notorious life had been portrayed in several movie versions in by Joseph Estrada , by Rudy Fernandez , and both played by George Estregan Jr. Asiong was considered one of the Philippines' public enemies where he reigned and dominated Manila 's then-known mob district, Tondo, for several years.

Salonga's name had been linked to illegal possession and sale of firearms, homicide, collection of sum of money from businessmen, and other unknown nefarious cases from which somehow he always managed to squirm out of arrest.

Despite this reputation, Salonga was still considered a hero by many local residents, thus earning him the nickname " Robin Hood of Tondo". Did you know Edit. Trivia Serialized in Bulaklak Magazine. Connections Followed by Asiong Meets Alembong User reviews Be the first to review.

He says he owes Manila his first big break as an actor, that it was in the city's streets that he first made his name as Asiong Salonga, and that he was loved and appreciated as Asiong Salonga by the same masses he promises to serve. His is a city that lives by the edge of a knife, where the hungry will kill and blood drains into sewage.

This is not an election where the celebrity of Joseph Estrada won the national capital. The talk is of hospitals, of education, of criminality and hunger and near desperation.

This is a public that voted for Estrada by default. Joseph Estrada calls the mayoralty of Manila his last gift to the Filipino people. Perhaps it is true, but it is also his last chance, for himself and the legacy of one Joseph Ejercito Estrada, politician. In the story he tells, he is a victim of circumstances, abused by the elite, discriminated by class, a self-made man who lost his presidency but won the people.

The mythology is not enough to vindicate him, not with a mere 30, votes in his favor. Manila may be his public redemption, but it is a narrative that will not end with his proclamation. It ends in , when he passes the promised golden city into the hands of Isko Moreno. Throw in Valerie Concepcion and that other mistress who is she, btw?

My particular favourite is the gun fight between Asiong and Hapon, played by Joko Diaz, in the streets of Tondo, with the rain pouring down on them.

It was rather disturbing although it fit in well with the theme of torture, blood, and revenge. And he in fact made it alive to St. But then, I realize that Baby Ama was only 16 when he died via electric chair so what the heck. In any case, the Tondo then is not much different from the Tondo I grew up in. Criminals still win in the elections and I can even name you three known murderers hiding in the very street where we lived although for fear of life, I would keep my mouth shut.

Needless to say, I quite enjoyed the film. Good story and I can relate to the craziness of Tondo. Not that I would want to live there again. Like this: Like Loading Happy New Year! Tell us your daddy's story too, Ate! Might be worthy of a film fest action movie. Just a trivia, Asiong had a wife a 7 mistresses.

And lastly, and again…i love the film. This is just my opinion, ive nothing against young actors nowadays.. Overall, the cinematography was great and for the most part accurate especially for the depiction of the era Like Like. I can only say that ERAP's version is closer than the other version..
